PRIVATE SCHOOL
For our private school programs, it is our goal to challenge students by providing quality instruction with a well-rounded, diversified curriculum. Historically, our graduates have met and exceeded all expectations in their new school environments. Private Kindergarten Curriculum
Stepping Stones offers a highly advanced curriculum where students build a strong academic foundation. We implement formalized curriculum known as “Read Well”. Private Kindergarten features reading, writing, spelling, and math concepts. A combination of phonics and whole language is used to teach literacy. Students are given eight to ten spelling words a week in addition to recognizing sight words, learning to build sentences, and writing in personal journals. Students also learn basic addition and subtraction with single digit numbers.
Pre-First Grade Curriculum
Stepping Stones provides an advanced Preparatory First Grade program in which students bridge the gap 
between Kindergarten and First Grade. Pre-first highlights an exceedingly successful environment where students can reach greater success through reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and advanced math skills. Students are given ten to fifteen spelling words a week and begin recognition of thematic sight words. Students also start to create small stories, distinguishing between nouns and verbs, and study compound words in sentence structures. Finally, students graduate to adding and subtracting double digit numbers, carrying, sequencing, and greater than less than math problems.
First Grade Curriculum
Stepping Stones offers an environment where students can exceed normal First grade parameters. The First
Grade curriculum provides an accelerated reading program and a superior math program. Students progress to fifteen to twenty spelling words a week. In addition, students examine grammar including contractions, prefixes, suffixes, and complex words in sentence structures. Creative writing is also introduced to boost concrete reading skills. Students continue to solve more advanced word problems in addition to studying money, time, carrying, rounding, and triple digit addition and subtraction.
Overall Curriculum
All three of our private school programs include foreign languages, fine arts, physical education, and 
scientific experiments on a daily basis to enhance self-confidence. Students particularly enjoy speaking sign language, learning about the human body, dissecting insects, building volcanoes, and creating earthquakes. All of our students are also engaged in a specifically designed social studies program in which they use passports to travel globally. To “travel” from one country to the next, a student must learn each country’s capital, recognize its flag, and count its currency. Math and computer labs are also provided for students to work cooperatively in a hands-on group setting. While studying, students listen to music composed by Bach and Beethoven while appreciating fine art created by Picasso and Monet, to name a few.
Most importantly, each student has an individual curriculum tailored to his or her developmental skill level. One-on-one lessons as well as small group and large group lessons are incorporated into all three grade levels.
